Several months after the death of his partner Mia following the birth of their daughter, Curtis is left to navigate fatherhood alone. Isolated in their city apartment, he loses himself in raising Salome and his work at the tech company where he and Mia first met, clinging to both as a way of keeping her close.
But as sleepless nights mount, his work begins to falter and financial pressures grow, Curtis retreats into memories of Mia and fragments of his own childhood. Comforting recollections gradually give way to older wounds and patterns of abandonment that continue to shape him.
As Curtis pushes away his mother Gillian and mother-in-law Vea, their shared grief brings buried tensions to the surface. Pattern is a meditative drama about grief, memory and fatherhood, and one man’s struggle to build a future when the life he had planned is gone.
