Jay Reid is award-winning screenwriter and freelance journalist whose films have played at Canadian and international festivals and have also been featured on short websites such as
FilmShortage.com.

In 2015, he won the Grand Prize for SODEC’s “Cours écrire ton court” short script competition for his short screenplay PHASES OF THE MOON.  As a result of his win, SODEC sent him to the 2016 Cannes Film Festival to attend the Producers Workshop.

Recently, his feature scripts have been shortlisted for The Black List Feature Lab 2018 and the Black List/Cassian Elwes Fellowship. LIFELIKE, his latest short, was recently selected as one of 15 short films in Canada to be part of Telefilm’s Not Short on Talent Program 2019 at the Cannes market. The short premiered at 38th edition of the Festival du cinéma international en Abitibi-Témiscamingue in Rouyn-Noranda and will have its US premiere at The 22nd Boston Underground Film Festival.

He’s currently developing his first feature project VOLUNTEER, a dark comedy about suicide hotline volunteers.
